Translation Course

Designed to teach translation skills between the Japanese and English languages. The course syllabus at the intermediate stage includes politics, economics, science, environmental issues, but beginners course students must first tackle materials such as music and media studies which include film, music and art.
In English to Japanese classes the teacher concentrates on the methodology of producing good quality texts in Japanese. Native English speakers will check students' Japanese to English texts for accuracy, grammar and vocabulary.
The syllabus is designed to enable students to gradually improve the speed and accuracy of their translations throughout the term. This course is recommended to students who wish to become in-house or freelance translators.
Part time day students must take the full translation module.

  • Course DGS - Translation for Beginners – Intermediate (Japanese<->English)

During the first half of the term, students begin by translating short sentences to create fluent Japanese and English texts, which are checked by native speakers.
